Picking the right arrangement for your bridal bouquet and other floral arrangements can be either an enjoyable experience part of the wedding planning process or a real struggle. Part of this depends upon your own preparedness as well as your own attitude concerning picking out the flowers. There are several things, though, that you can do to make picking out the flowers a more enjoyable experience.

Establish a Budget for Flowers

Because your flowers can take a significant chunk of your wedding budget, it is important to establish a budget for them right away. Be honest with yourself and the florist about how much money you can really afford to spend on the bridal bouquet as well as the other flowers for the wedding. If you do not have a budget or if you try to establish a budget which is really too high, you might find yourself falling in love with a flower arrangement you cannot afford. Then you will either have to give up your dream bouquet or sacrifice in another area.

Consider Your Colors

Consider your wedding colors before picking out a bouquet. Because not all flowers come in every color, this will give you an idea of what flowers can go in your bouquet, particularly which flowers will work best as the primary flower or flowers for your bouquet.

If you are not sure what flowers you want to use, you can search bridal bouquet images online using your wedding colors. Even if you are not sure about your wedding colors, you can search several different color combinations until you find a bridal bouquet you really like.

Visit Several Florists

Visiting several florists and getting an estimate can help you figure out how much you can expect to spend on a wedding bouquet and the other wedding flowers. Visiting different florists can also give you a feel for what is available for wedding flowers as well as help you to decide which florist you want to work with.

Of course, you do not need to visit every florist in the area. Visiting three or four different florists is probably adequate, especially if the places you visit are giving you similar estimates. If you have friends or family members who have gotten married recently, they might be able to give you advice on what florist or florists are best as well as which ones to avoid.

Consider what is In Season

While you can put just about any flower in your bouquet, picking ones which are in season will save you money. Plus, if they are in season, the flowers will likely look and smell fresher. If you are unsure about what flowers are in season, the florist can help you. This does not mean you have to completely avoid flowers that are not in season. Instead, if there is a flower you really want in your bouquet, use it sparingly. Maybe use a few in the bridal bouquet and use other flowers in the bridesmaids’ bouquets and other floral arrangements.

Do What You Want

Finally and perhaps most importantly, do what you want. While friends, family members, and the florist can give you advice, remember that it is not their wedding day. If you like a certain floral arrangement, even if no one else likes it, go for it. If you want to add in your favorite flower, even though it does not come in your wedding colors, add it to the bouquet. It is your day, and your happiness with the bridal bouquet and other flowers is more important than what other people think of the flowers.
