Thank You for Choosing Pro Sound & Light Show!
We are thrilled to be your choice for professional wedding DJ services in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Your trust means the world to us, and we’re dedicated to making your wedding day truly unforgettable.
The Importance of a Well-Planned Reception Flow
Over the past 20 years, we’ve learned that the flow of events at a wedding reception can make or break the celebration. While every wedding includes key moments like the first dance or bouquet toss, when these moments happen is just as crucial as how they are executed.
As your Minnesota Wedding DJ, we specialize in creating a timeline that ensures each event transitions seamlessly, keeping your guests engaged and the energy high throughout the night.
Sample Reception Timeline
Here’s a sample timeline to help you envision your big day:
- 5:30 PM: Guests Arrive
- 6:00 PM: Grand Entrance / Welcome Speech
- 6:10 PM: Blessing & Dinner Service
- 7:00 PM: Toasts
- 7:15 PM: Cake Cutting
- 7:30 PM: Love Story Presentation
- 7:35 PM: First Dance
- 7:40 PM: Father-Daughter Dance
- 7:45 PM: Mother-Son Dance
- 7:50 PM: Wedding Party Dance
- 8:30 PM: Money Dance
- 9:00 PM: Bouquet & Garter Toss
- 11:55 PM: Final Dance
We’ll tailor this sequence to your preferences and work closely with other vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Flexibility: Adapting to the Unexpected
Weddings are dynamic, and sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned. Whether it’s a longer-than-expected receiving line or unexpected traffic delays, flexibility is key. Your Pro Sound & Light Show DJ is trained to adapt to any situation, rearranging the timeline as needed to keep everything on track.
Pre-Reception Planning with Your DJ
Planning your wedding reception should be as fun as it is productive. That’s why we include a pre-reception consultation, conducted 2–6 weeks before your wedding. This is the perfect time to discuss your timeline, music preferences, and any special requests.
Your assigned DJ will also call you the week of the event to confirm final details, ensuring nothing is left to chance.
Sound System Setup: Getting It Right
The placement of your DJ’s sound system can significantly impact the success of your reception. Here’s what we recommend:
- The DJ booth should be near the dance floor with a clear line of sight to key areas (entrance, head table, cake table).
- Avoid placing guest tables directly in front of speakers to ensure comfortable sound levels.
- Allocate a 6’ x 10’ space for the DJ’s setup and ensure access to two separate 20-amp outlets within 25 feet.
- Outdoor setups require a covered area for weather protection.
If additional speakers are needed to accommodate adjacent rooms or large spaces, we can provide them for a nominal fee.
Food and Beverage Tips for Your Reception
- Dinner Timing: Begin dinner service promptly after the grand entrance. Guests will appreciate not having to wait too long to eat.
- Mingling Time: After eating, take 20 minutes to visit tables while guests finish their meals.
- DJ Refreshments: Providing your DJ with a meal, ice water, or soft drinks is appreciated, though never expected.
Keeping the Dance Floor Alive
Your presence on the dance floor sets the tone for your guests. Stay on the floor during the first fast song to encourage others to join in. From there, your DJ will “read the crowd” and adjust the music to keep everyone dancing and having fun.
Gratuities for Your DJ
Gratuities are not required but are greatly appreciated. A typical tip is 10%–15% of the DJ fee, reflecting the service quality and overall enjoyment.
